BROADCAST VIDEO EXPO 2010

This years forum tends mainly to focus on the fact that production is now developing more and more into being tapeless and that content will now be stored in the 'cloud' rather than on tape in an archive. The managing of content and who gets access to it is a matter of having the right technical structure inplace (workflow) so that all stakeholders can work on and collaborate on the content at the same time. Managing clips and files and 'data wrangling' is also something that will need to be done. Managing cards is important and securing footage before wiping it off the card will need to be managed. Some insurance company policies are only valid under strict management of cards. So with all these new ideas of working inplace it still seems from those who have transitioned into tapeless that this is a wise move and that it saves time and money. However the ironic thing is that now drives are being collected rather than tapes. So history is repeating itself.
